Aboriginal Skills Employment and Training Services is a program that helps increase Aboriginal participation in the Canadian Labour Market, provide employers with skilled works and strengthen ans facilitate flexible programming that meet the needs of Aboriginal people and employers.

The ASETS worker for Boothroyd Band comes down only when she has booked appointments with someone. 

They offer four programs:

​

  1.  Summer Student Program - Focuses on providing work experience and developmental learning for in school youth through the provision of a wage subsidy to employers. 

  2. Direct Purchase Program - Provides funding for eligible participants who may attend institutional training from public or registered private institutions. 

  3. Target Wage Subsidy Program -   To provide employment opportunity for an unemployed eligible client that requires assistance to overcome existing or anticipated labour market barriers 

  4. Demand driven project based training program - To provide on and off the job training for eligible participants who face serious difficulties securing and maintaining employment.
